Without you we wouldn't be where we are in business but most importantly we wouldn't be who we are as humans.

You have helped us transform a Royal New Zealand Navy  vessel into an expedition vessel filled with community, purpose, laughter and great food, hot tubs, adventures, great yarns, bold ideas and unforgettable stories... thank you!
 

If you're reading this and you don't know us yet you'll hopefully get the idea that we're more than a business or tourism operation or charter boat... we're passionate people privileged to call Fiordland home and share it's magic with wonderful humans... we do people, connection and place... the business simply happens to allow us to live our values and give back.. to place and people.. which is where this celebration comes in.... smile...

Seán and I couldn’t have dreamt of our brainstorm on a beach with a little scrap paper to turn into this wonderful construct we call Pure Salt. Thanks to you it’s so much more than a business.. it’s a LIFE full of awesome "clients", crew, collaborators and inspiring projects, volunteers, creatives and friends.. often showing up as a combination… 

We're incredibly humbled and grateful to be celebrating our ten year love affair with Flightless and everybody who is part of our journey and look forward to the next ten years unfolding one adventure at a time…

WHY

By the very nature of where we operate and what we do not everybody gets to experience the magic of this place. If money wasn't a thing we'd love to gift every single adventure.. so to celebrate 10 years of operation we've decided to gift 10 spots onboard.. just about an entire charters worth to say thank you.

What

 

There'll be different competitions to enter each month for the length of that month. The winner will receive a voucher to use towards any Join-a-group of charter booking of their choosing... naturally terms and conditions apply...

$10,000 Tamatea Rate

 

So for anyone who would like to contribute half a day of their charter to DO physical conservation work on the ground we’re introducing a Tamatea rate of $10,000 per night and are excited to see where this goes.

HOW

WHY

It's a privilege to function as a social enterprise and we couldn't do it without wonderful volunteers, other businesses, client donations, storytelling and artist involvement. AND we want to always do more so we thought what if more people would turn up with the intention to pitch in... just imagine...

What

 

The Tamatea rate is available from the 1st of March 2026 to bookings made on that day or after. We're not in a position to offer this retrospectively.

The work and availability will vary depending on what is needed on the ground as it's not just to make us feel good but to actually DO good. It could be anything from trap checks or underwater cleanups, over camera replacements or track clearing to fish tagging or monitoring work..
